Adoption of soil and water conservation technologies and its effects on soil properties: Evidences from Southwest Ethiopia

In Ethiopia, national wide soil and water conservation is going on since 2010/11in all agro-climatic zones farming systems. Therefore, this study evaluated the effects of bund physico-chemical properties factors determining farmers' decision adoption SWC technologies in a watershed located sub-humid climate southwest Ethiopia. Two sub-watersheds, namely Nada Gulufa Gilgel Gibe I catchment, were selected for study. Thirty-six samples collected from non-conserved croplands conserved with bunds (older than 4 years) at three slope positions, lower (5–10%), middle (10–15%), upper (>15%). Both composite undisturbed top (0–30 cm) physicochemical determined following standard laboratory procedures. The generated data was analyzed using one-way ANOVA mean separation carried out by Tukey test R-version 3.5.2. To generate survey data, 267 households randomly two sub-watersheds interviewed structured questionnaire. binary logit model STATA software version 13. result showed that implemented significantly (p < 0.05) improved BD, SMC, pH, SOC, TN CEC positions both sub-watersheds. personal, socio-economic, institutional, physical influencing farmer's adoption. This revealed need to consider enhance willingness probability Besides, improvements as practices can help create awareness.
